Florida friends come for a visit

Jennifer's college friend Michelle and her husband Tom visited us recently. They live in Miami where Tom is a pastor and were in the metro area for an extended stay with family. They came up for a day and we grilled out at the park and had their three kids test out the brand new playground the county has recently built. It is billed as the largest in Georgia, but I am a little suspicious of that claim. Afterwards we cooled off at the house (it was 95 and humid that day) and Alysia and Andrew watched Veggie Tales while Jennifer and I got some baby time with their five month old Anthony. Check out his full head of hair!

Fourth of July Race

This year on the Fourth I ran a 5k race that benefited our local crisis pregnancy center. Even though my training did not exactly happen as I planned it I still did fairly well. I ran my fastest first two miles. But I ran out of steam in the last uphill leg and killed my finishing time a little. Here you can see a pic of me fresh before the start of the race and then in my last push before the finish line to come in under 40 minutes. Maybe in a couple of years I will be doing the Peachtree Road Race on the Fourth.

Lil' Jonathan comes for a visit

Our friends Jonathan and Rebecca brought their son Jonathan Jr. over for a visit today. Junior is destined to be best buds with our soon to arrive son Will. We are already having dreams of play times together at the new playground the county just built near our house. Here is a good picture of Lil' Jonathan catching a nap with his mother Rebecca.

Memorial Day

We spent Memorial Day in the mountains of North Georgia. Our friends Erik and Katherine have a cabin they built adjacent to the public dirt bike trails in the National Forest. Erik is an avid rider and so are Roy and Missy (Jennifer's brother and his wife). So this was a much anticipated dirt bikin' rally for them. Here are a slew of pictures of the wonderful day we had there.

The shower

Jeniffer's mother and sister in-law threw us a shower when the family visited this Memorial Day weekend. They really went all out. They had sent virtual invites to our friends scattered across the country and many of them sent us presents through Amazon. This is a picture of the decorating they did of our dining room.

As you can see we were showered with gifts.

This is my brother in-law Roy. He took the shower games with appropriate seriousness.

Jennifer loved all the presents for Will. Here she is showing off one of the thoughtful gifts we received.
